PDF to Excel by Flyingbee App Reviews
Test version does not work
I tried with several pdf files and obtained only empty excel spreadsheets
I happened to find such an app that supports converting PDF files to Excel tables. Only two pages of the pdf file can be converted, but the conversion is not bad. The content in the PDF file is well preserved. This is what i need.
I’ve used numerous apps, but this one impressed me a lot since it is helpful for me to convert PDF files to editable Excel documents in a short time. As an accountant, it is very useful. By using this free trial version to convert two pages of my PDF file, the excellent performance on conversion convince me to buy the full version.
This converter is generally good for me to convert PDF files to Excel tables. It is a free trial version, only allows me to convert two pages, the background color of the PDF file cannot be maintained but the converted file well retain the plain text in the original PDF files. Hope they could foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses to develop more and better apps.
Well done
The app well retain the content of the original PDF file. I can import more than one PDF file to do the conversion at one time. Very convenient.
This works well, but depending on the font of the document you’ve scanned 7s can be imported as 1s. I’m glad I double checked the excel file this created or I would have had several cells that were one hundred thousand instead of seven hundred thousand!
The interface is use-friendly, for a test, I downloaded this lite version. It allowed me to convert two pages of my PDF file. The cell and text color did not be preserved as colored but black, however, the content is well maintained without any change.
I’m getting an annoying format error on the first column, but for the most part, this just saved me roughly 8 hours of transcribing time. Highly recommended. It has errors, but that’s somewhat to be expected. If you’re using Numbers, you might need to unmerge cells in order to keep information working. Give it a shot. Not sure what ads the free version is supposed to be nagging me with, but I’m not getting any issues. This App is legit to use if you’re trying to do a days work in an hour. PS: No - I’m not paid to leave this review.
They claim "Perfect Accuracy and Format Retention” and “Preserve original text, tables, layout, rows, columns, and data structure exactl.” This app does not deliver on any of these claims. It did marginally better than another free convertor I just tried but it still failed miserably in recognizing a simple table and preserving its layout and format. Apparently cannot recognize a table with multi-line text within a cell even thought there is more than adequate space to delineate and recognize the table cell layout. Also failed to separate many number and date fields and lumped them into single cells with the text meant as a label for the number or dates. When converting to a spreadsheet format the main idea is to separate the data items into usable cells. Thus dates, numbers, amounts should almost always be converted into seperate cells. Doesn’t even recognize paranthetical numbers as negative values (common accounting format choice) and instead it simply throws away the parenthesis. I deleted this app as soon as I tried it out on a few simple paycheck stub pdfs.
Works Great for Bank Statements
Didn’t stay caught up downloading my bank transactions so had to work with individual pdf statements. I tested the free version out and it seemed to work on the top of the first page of a 6 page statement so took a chance and paid for the pro version. IT WORKED GREAT. Dragged all 12 statements into the app window and it converted everything within seconds into 12 excel spreadsheets each page with it’s own tab. Some of the formatting was off (which is not the fault of the program as the statements vary). Once I removed all merged cells I was able to copy the tables I wanted into a new tab. 10 mins of formatting per statement later and I was done. I don’t think any program could do it any better. Highly recommend. Thanks!!
free version is worthless, too limited to even test
Sorry -- the free version is far to limited to test my files. Not worth the effort.
I envy people who get ANY pages converted, or get substandard conversions!
I have tried to convert the same pdf to excel multiple times now. And it says SUCCESS, but when I open the preadsheet it is blank. So it converts it to… invisible spreadsheets? I am trying to simply change the color of a few of cells on our breeding records sheets so the ID color matches the actual color of the ID bands, no big deal, except apparently its impossible? I am running an OS 10.7.5, an older version because it's an older computer, but that claimes to be compatible. So what am I doing wrong?
Works…..sort of….
I was using this on bank statements that were downloaded from a national bank. Yes….it has a 2 page limit if you don’t purchase the full version, & yes, there are adds at the bottom. I don’t blame the developers for wanting to recap some of their expenses so those items don’t bother me. I chose a couple pages to test. The last being a single page of account activity already set up in columns nicely. The results, although usable, were far from what is claimed “Superiour accuracy & format retention”. Dates were not dates, & currency was not currency. And extra columns were thrown into the mix that would need to be deleted….seems at random. So additional formatting would be needed to make the file usable. Also, when you try to open the Excel file you’ve created, it must be “repaired” first….not sure what thats about. If this were a one time thing, I would have given more stars, but I need to convert many files so my search continues for a suitable product. Close….but not quite there.
Didn’t work
After you download it, you find out it will only convert two pages, and it’s loaded with ads until you pay. I didn’t pay, because it couldn’t convert the files I tried on it (an online converter could, though).
Blank Reports
Tried this on a couple files that were NOT scanned PDFs and the reports came out completely blank.
Very capable App
I tried this app on several pdf files and the conversions worked beautifully. This is a very useful app.
Didn’t work
Tried a spreadsheet - didn’t work for me.
NOTHING
Tried a simple PDF table file. NOTHING! Just a blank excel worksheet. DON’T Bother with it! And certainly don’t pay anything!
Upgrade
Can’t use unless you upgrade

Very Decent With Crystal Reports

Easy to use

Double Check your output!
